Love Should Define YOU

If you are a Christian, love for others should define you.

Mark Guy Pearse:

God is love; and it is good, as it is true, to think that every sun-ray that touches the earth has the sun at the other end of it; so every bit of love upon god*s earth has God at the other end of it.

1 John 3:1: Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.

Sometimes we are eager to show someone our prized possessions. John wanted to show us his most prized possession. The more we look at God*s love for John and for us, the more we will be thrilled that we have it. Behold means more than just a mere glance, it means to carefully consider it.

We who are saved ought to be eagerly holding up the love of God before others at every opportunity and saying: Look at this wonderful love that the Lord has given me! It is the most precious thing that I have! It is the most dependable thing that I have!! The most important things I learned after I gave my heart to the Lord were that He really does love me and that He really does have my best interests at heart. Before I received Christ I did not have a clue about the greatness of His love toward me. No one gets even close to understanding the love of God until they enter His Kingdom. Until they become born again, they are blind to the Kingdom and the love of its King.

John 3:3: Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

Understanding, enjoying and passing on the righteousness, peace, joy, and power that are in the Kingdom of God are only possible for those who have been born into it.

Romans 14:17: For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

1 Corinthians 4:20: For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.

When we receive Christ we receive the love of God and it MUST flow through us to others. If one does not love others, he is not a Christian. When we receive Him we are constrained by His love. His love is the defining attribute of faithful Christians.

Romans 5:5: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

Galatians 5:22a: But the fruit of the Spirit is love, . . .

2 Corinthians 5:14a: For the love of Christ constraineth us . . .

John 13:35: By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

1 Corinthians 13:8z: Charity (love) never faileth: . . .

1 John 4:8: He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

Nothing can separate His children from God*s love.

Romans 8:38-39: For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

The only thing that can keep believers from full knowledge of God*s love for them is their own sin.

Isaiah 59:2: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
